The Meade Buffaloes and the Centralia-Wetmore Panthers had won the last two 2-1A Championship games - Meade beat Pittsburg-Colgan in 2010 and Centralia beat Lacrosse last year - and met at Lewis Field Stadium in Hays to decide who would win the 2012 championship. In a back and forth game that had the Panthers take a 25 - 14 lead with 4:44 left in the fourth quarter, the Buffaloes stormed back to score 14 points in those final minutes to win the game 28-25.
